About the Artist: In the early 1980s, Donna studied oil painting for a brief period, but was a full time teacher with little time for a hobby. After retirement from her career as a teacher & administrator in public education in 2001, she began to study art locally in Maine. She composes images from memories of places where she has gathered a few reference photographs, but also enjoys painting dreamed images and those inspired by mythology. Her art and poetry have been published in The Café Review, the Goose River Anthology, and the Wolf Moon Journal and by Moon Pie Press. For the past few years, Donna has been experimenting with monoprints developed from using watercolor, ink, and other media to print from linocuts. She is continuing to create a series of Belgrade Lakes pen & ink watercolor studies and is also currently working on Belgrade Lakes and Maine coastal imagery using alcohol inks. Donna's art is available at the Central Maine Artists Gallery in Skowhegan, Maine. Her Belgrade Lakes notecards are available during the summer at Days Store in Belgrade Lakes.
